COLUMBUS, Ind. — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Milestone Contractors, LP announces lane restrictions starting on or after Friday on State Road 46 in Columbus. This is in connection to Phase One of an intersection improvement project, near the intersection of Two Mile House Road. The inside lanes of eastbound and westbound State Road 46 will be closed, including the left turn lane, to allow for curb removal and replacement.
The outside lanes will remain open, separated by barrels and/or barrier wall. Once complete, restrictions will shift to the outside lanes. This phase will last through the end of May, weather permitting.
In early June, crews will begin the second phase of work which includes paving and added traffic signals. All phases of work are expected to be complete by end of October.
The contract was awarded to Milestone Contractors, LP for $1.5 million in March. INDOT encourages drivers to allow extra time when driving through this area and follow traffic directions carefully. Motorists should slow down, exercise caution and drive distraction-free through all work zones.
