North clips Braves

TERRE HAUTE — Terre Haute South scored twice in bottom of the seventh to send Saturday’s game to extra innings, but Columbus North plated four in the eighth to pull out an 8-4 Conference Indiana win.

Tyler Blythe went 3 for 4 with a double, Zach McLean went 2 for 4 with a double and two RBIs and Luke Harmon went 2 for 4 with a double (13-9, 3-2). Harmon and Ryan Rayburn combined on a five-hitter, with Rayburn picking up the win in relief.

Jets take two losses

CHARLESTOWN — Hauser dropped a pair of games in the Charlestown Tournament, falling to Boonville 16-0 and South Dearborn 7-1.

Zayne McCanlis went 2 for 2 against Boonville. Kameron Blair went 2 for 3 for the Jets (11-11-1) against South Dearborn.

Cougars rout Mustangs

NEW WASHINGTON — Trinity Lutheran overcame an early 2-0 deficit with 11 runs in the bottom of the first and went on to post a 19-2 win against New Washington.

Sage Broughton had two hits and four RBIs, Nathan Voelker and Drake Goodpaster each had two hits and three RBIs and Kowan Gross added two hits for the Cougars (11-12). Jackson Trueblood and Chase Bode combined on a two-hitter.

BOYS GOLF

North takes sixth

LEBANON — Columbus North finished sixth out of 12 teams in the Brownsburg Invitational at The Trophy Club. No. 3 Hamilton Southeastern won with a 295, followed by No. 7 Zionsville (298), No. 4 Evansville North and No. 8 Carmel (both 302), No. 17 Penn (312), No. 16 Columbus North and No. 9 Center Grove (both 313) and No. 6 Bloomington South (318).

Tyler Wilks led the Bull Dogs with a 75. Brady Schneider carded a 76, Jack Schiavello added a 77, Willy Davis shot 85, John Merritt had an 87 and Alex Clark finished with an 89.

Eagles eighth in WIC

BLOOMINGTON — Brown County finished eighth in the Western Indiana Conference Tournament with a 382 at Cascades. Cloverdale won with a 337.

Clay Austin led the Eagles with an 88. Liam Cassiday carded a 95, Wesley Arndt added a 98, Bradley Arndt shot 101 and Jon Kirchhofer had a 119.

SOFTBALL

Hauser goes 1-2

BROOKVILLE — Hauser went 1-2 in the Franklin County Invitational, blanking Delta 12-0 in five innings before falling to Cascade 1-0 and Class 2A No. 9 Eastern Hancock 12-4.

Regan Mack threw a one-hit shutout and went 2 for 2 with two RBIs against Delta. Kyra Meister went 4 for 4 with two RBIs, Lucie Asher went 3 for 4, Izzy Brunner went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and Reagan Johnson had a home run and three RBIs.

The Jets outhit Cascade 8-5, with Paige McDaniel throwing a five-hitter. Meister went 2 for 2, and Maley Jordan went 2 for 3.

Kylie Mack went 3 for 3, McDaniel went 2 for 2 and Meister had a home run for Hauser (17-6) against Eastern Hancock.

Trojans blank Lancers

GREENWOOD — Class 4A No. 5 Center Grove scored twice in the first and four times in the second to hand Edinburgh a 6-0 loss in the semifinals of the Johnson County Tournament.

Gracie Crawhorn, Kenna Streeval and Lexi Riley all had a double for the three hits for the Lancers (10-11).

Braves edge Cougars

SEYMOUR — Trinity Lutheran outhit Brownstown Central 4-3, but the Braves pushed across an unearned run in the third to claim a 1-0 victory.

Grace Lance threw a three-hitter and struck out 13 for the Cougars (12-9). Madison Keith went 2 for 3.

GIRLS TENNIS

Jets, Lancer take 2nd

HOPE — Bella Kilps finished runner-up at No. 1 singles, and Abby Blair and Kayden Miller were runners-up at No. 2 doubles for Hauser in the Mid-Hoosier Conference individual tournament.

Edinburgh’s Izzy Richardson finished runner-up at No. 3 singles.

Panthers edge Rebels

NORTH VERNON — Jennings County pulled out a three-set win at No. 1 doubles to claim a 3-2 win against Southwestern (Hanover).

Tatum Brown beat Syrenia Hardy 6-0, 6-4 at No. 1 singles, and Kaydence Lowman topped Emma Hatton 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2 singles for the Panthers (4-13). Mia Silvey and Gabi Morin defeated Autumn Gross and Natalie LaRue 2-6, 6-3, 6-3 at No. 1 doubles.

Jennings’ Jocelyn Valdovinos fell to Ava Barnes 6-0, 6-1 at No. 3 singles. Makenzey Carr and Trina Collins lost to Raygan Crawford and Kaylee Hite 6-1, 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.

Millers sweep Eagles

NASHVILLE — No. 6 Noblesville won all five matches in straight sets in a 5-0 win at Brown County.

Anna Stogsdill fell to Bella Duncan 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Anna Tipton lost to Allie Stamm 6-0, 6-0 at No. 2 singles and Julia Burt fell to Josie Flinchum 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 singles for the Eagles (11-7).

Brown County’s Katie Tipton and Londyn Koester lost to Lina Hamaschuk and Cami Crist 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 doubles. Ava Kelly and Cady Kemp fell to Daniella Tuesca and Olivia Gadis 6-2, 6-4 at No. 2 doubles.
