BCSC opens summer meals program

Bartholomew Consolidated School Corp. is providing free meals to children beginning Wednesday and continuing to July 28 through the Summer Food Service Program.

A list of the BCSC meal sites and dates is available in Spanish as well as English at bcscschools.org. For more information, call the food services department at 812-376-4224 or Director of Food Services Nancy Millspaugh at 812-376-4462.

Meals will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis at the following sites:

  • Foundation for Youth (May 24 to Aug. 2) — Breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Closed on May 29 and July 4.
  • Donner Park (June 12 to July 28) — Lunch from 1:30-2 p.m. Closed on June 23, July 3-7, July 13 and July 21. The following field trips are planned: FFY Gymnastic Center on June 15, Skateland on June 22, The Commons on June 29 and bowling center on July 20.
  • Columbus North High School (May 30 to July 21) — Breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Enter door #1 and go to the cafeteria. Closed June 19 and July 4.
  • Heritage Heights Playground (May 30 to July 21) — Lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Closed June 19 and July 4.
  • Smith Elementary (May 30 to July 28) — Breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Closed June 19 and July 4.
  • Taylorsville Elementary (July 24 to July 28) — Breakfast from 7:45-8 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
  • Clifty Creek Elementary (July 24 to July 28) — Breakfast from 7:45-8 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
  • Schmitt Elementary (July 24 to July 28) — Breakfast from 7:45-8 a.m. and lunch from 11:30 a.m. to noon.
  • Candlelight Mobile Home Park, clubhouse picnic area (May 30 to July 21) — Lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Closed June 19 and July 4.
  • Central Middle School (May 30 to July 28) — Breakfast from 7:30-8:30 a.m. and lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.. Closed June 19, July 3 and July 4.
  • Ashford Park Apartments (May 30 to July 21) — Lunch from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Closed June 19, July 3 and July 4.

Free meals will be available to all children 18 years old and younger, as well as individuals over 18 who are enrolled in a state-approved educational program for the mentally or physically disabled. Otherwise, adults can purchase meals at the cost of $2.20 for breakfast and $4.60 for lunch. Meals must be eaten on site.
