Mary Jeanne Wolf, 80, of Columbus passed away on June 7, 2023, at Our Hospice of South Central Indiana in Columbus. She was born January 23, 1943, in Wichita, Kansas. She was the daughter of Eugene and Ruth (Keener) Fleek. Mary Jeanne graduated second in her high school class in 1961. She attended Kansas State University where she met her husband, Ronald Wolf. They were united in marriage on October 23, 1965. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2019. She graduated in 1965 with a Bachelor’s degree in English and French. She received a Master of Science in Education in 1984.

Mary Jeanne worked as an English and Literature teacher for over 35 years. She was a substitute teacher at many schools in the Bartholomew County School Corporation. She worked at McDowell Education Center with students who needed an alternative education. She also taught at Ivy Tech and IUPUI teaching English as a Second Language (one of her favorite classes), English and Literature.

Her favorite pastimes included reading, bridge, travel and spending time with her family. She and her husband were able to take over 10 cruises including Alaska, Hawaii, Mediterranean, Caribbean, and Panama Canal. They most enjoyed their tour of Australia, New Zealand and Fiji. Ireland, Paris and London were special, but their final family trip to Maui on their 50th wedding anniversary was exceptional. She really enjoyed visiting with her granddaughter Maya.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Ruth, in 1965 and her father, Eugene, in 2010. She is survived by her son, Scott Wolf (Bronwyn Garrett) of Arlington, Texas; daughter Ruth Wolf of McCordsville, Indiana, granddaughter Maya Wolf of McCordsville, Indiana; and brother William Fleek of Lansing, Kansas.

Services have been entrusted to Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home.

In keeping with Mrs. Wolf’s wishes cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Howard Boles officiating. Memorials may be made in honor of Mary Jeanne to First United Methodist Church or Love Chapel.
