Douglas M. Elam, 80, of Columbus, passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2023, at Our Hospice Inpatient Facility. He was born on March 6, 1943, in Blackey, KY to Earl Elam and Martha Hodge Elam.

Survivors include his daughters, Dedra Abts and Heather (Jeff McCoy) Green; step-children, Brent Turner and Michele Martin; brothers, Terry Elam, Donnie Elam, and Harry Pennington; sister, Wendy Ison; grandchildren, Makenzie (Kolby) Coffman, Hannah Abts, Owen Green; step-grandchildren, Brent Turner II, Jacob Martin, Rieley Turner; great-granddaughter, Millie Elam

Doug was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Martha Elam; brothers, Charles Elam and Garry Pennington; Also preceded in death by Pauline Elam.

Doug retired from Cummins Engine Company after 38 years of service. He had a wonderful sense of humor and never met a stranger. His family got a kick out of his daily routine of going to McDonalds then Circle K to get his scratch-off tickets, hoping he would hit it big. He was an avid Kentucky Wildcats, Chicago Cubs and Dallas Cowboys fan. In his free time, he enjoyed reading, playing cards and spending time with his family, especially his only great-granddaughter, Millie.

A Celebration of Life service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday, July 8, 2023, at Revival Full Gospel Tabernacle, 4474 E. 550 N. Clifford, IN with Pastor Eli Johnson officiating. Calling hours will be from 2 p.m. until service time Saturday at the church.
