Lloyd A. Bruce Jr. died at home on Thursday, July 6, 2023. He was born to Lloyd A. Bruce Sr. and Frona Belle Stogdill Bruce on May 14, 1944.

He married Judith Skinner on April 20, 1963. She preceded him in death on January 8, 2009.

Born to this union were four children: David and Vicki who died as infants, Roger (Tammy) Bruce and Katrina Bruce Pardue (Dennis); four grandchildren: Matthew Bruce, Shelby (Blake) Baker, Nathanael Bruce and Madison Pardue; and one great-grandchild Brentley Baker.

He married Shirley Reed on March 4, 2010 giving him a stepson, Ernie (Terrie) Reed; step-grandchildren Tara (Mike) Kelly; and step-great grandchildren Shelby and Jayden Kelly, whom he loved as his own. Shirley preceded him in death on July 31, 2021.

Also surviving include sisters, Bertha Brock, Nancy Deckard and Sandra (Gilbert) Hatton and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, two children and sister Delores Allender, and brothers Richard Bruce and Frank Bruce.

A devout Christian, Lloyd attended both Greasy Creek Community Church and Belmont Pentecostal Chapel. His faith was important to him and he wants his friends and family to get right with God and prepare to make Heaven their home.

Lloyd graduated Brown County High School in 1962, but attended Spencer schools up until his junior year of high school. After high school, he started working at Cummins Engine Company where he retired after 34 years. During his time at Cummins, he was drafted into the United States Marine Corps where he served at Camp Pendelton in San Diego, California and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal.

He formerly played music with the Lords Locker Hallelujah Band and also enjoyed camping with the Good Sam’s Club. He enjoyed working in the yard, gardening, outdoor activities, playing his guitar but mostly going to church and spending time with friends and family.

A visitation is scheduled for Monday, July 10 from 4-8 PM at The Funeral Chapel of Powell and Deckard. A second visitation will be held on Tuesday July 11 from 1-2 PM, followed by a funeral service with military honors at 2 PM officiated by Pastors Dewayne Dunning and Bruce Bond, Greasy Creek Community Church and Belmont Chapel, respectively.
