BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Force Construction Company will continue nightly lane and ramp closures today and Saturday (July 14 and 15) at the I-65/State Road 46 interchange in Columbus to complete installation of supplemental support hangers on the I-65 bridge. Closures are scheduled to occur from 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Beginning at 8 p.m., the left lane of I-65 northbound and southbound will be closed, as well as the left-turn lanes on State Road 46 at I-65. All entrance and exit ramps will also be closed at the I-65/State Road 46 interchange (Exit 68) while work is in progress. The closures will be removed by 6 a.m. the following day.

During the early morning hours of Saturday, rolling slow-downs and traffic stoppages will occur in addition to lane and ramp closures on I-65 and State Road 46. On I-65, northbound and southbound traffic will be slowed through the work zone for periods of up to 20 minutes as work progresses. On State Road 46, both eastbound and westbound traffic will be stopped for up to 20 minutes at a time. Slow-downs and stoppages are expected to begin around midnight. Lane and ramp closures will also take place Saturday night.

Motorists are highly encouraged to seek alternate routes during these times as heavy congestion and delays are expected.

This work is being completed to provide additional support to the I-65 bridge structure over State Road 46. Work is anticipated to be complete in late July. The temporary structures under the bridge will be removed and traffic will return to its original configuration at that time.
