FORMERLY OF COLUMBUS
Mabel Brockman, 95 years young, passed away peacefully on July 11, 2023. Born January 8, 1928, the daughter of Riley and Grace Lawson. Mabel was one of eight children. Mabel married Leonard Brockman on June 23, 1947, and together they had 11 children, eight daughters, and three sons.
After Leonard’s passing in 1969, Mabel’s strength, perseverance, and unwavering faith in God led her in continuing to raise and support their 11 children in Columbus, IN.
She enjoyed reading, word search puzzles, bird-watching, flowers, gardening, and spending time with her children, 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren, and five great-great grandchildren. This beautiful family is her legacy, and she always made it clear how much she loved each one of them.
She is preceded in death by her husband and children, Betty, Judy, Leroy, Darlene, and Gregory. She is survived by her children, Barbara (Steve) Moore of Mt. Washington, KY, Patty (Kim) Kappel of Columbus, IN, Diana (Ron) Rowland of Osage Beach, MO, Regina Ridgeway of Raleigh, NC, David Brockman of Taylorsville, IN, and Marlene (Chris) Mauthe of Palmetto, FL.
Mabel will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life to honor her memory will be held at the Goshen Church Cemetery in Spearsville, IN.
