Heat advisory in effect for Columbus

The National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory from 8 a.m. today through midnight Friday, with heat indexes of up to 109 degrees expected in the state.

Hot temperatures and high humidity may cause heat illnesses to occur.

High temperatures today and Friday are expected to be in the middle to upper 90s. This will produce heat index values between 100 and 109 during the afternoon and early evening hours.
