Students’ Fund of Hope to celebrate 5 years

The Hauser High School boys basketball team raised over $21,000 last month for the Students’ Fund of Hope during their their first free throw shootout to benefit depleted lunch accounts at the school.

HOPE — The Students’ Fund of Hope will celebrate its fifth birthday with a party on the Hope Town Square on Sunday, Aug. 6, from 5 to 7 p.m.

Free root beer floats, a bounce house and balloon animals will be available, with a back to school prayer circle led by the Hope Ministerial Association at 7 p.m.

The fund has had an active summer raising money for programs that directly benefit students.

Last month, the Hauser High School boys basketball team hosted its first free throw shoot out to benefit depleted lunch accounts at the school, which raised over $21,000.

The Fund also hosted a sold-out Bingo at the Brewery and the Morel Fundraiser, which raised over $2,300.

In addition, the Fund paid $1,014.42 for lunch and book assistance, $901.50 for utility assistance and $522.50 for outstanding senior student fees in June.

In addition to the birthday party Upcoming events hosted by the Fund will include the Cash Cow Raffle on Aug. 14, Outdoor Movie Night on Sept. 8 and Hope Heritage Days from Sept. 22 to 24.

The Outdoor Movie Night will include free activities at 6 p.m., a showing of “The Super Mario Bros Movie” and free food.
