Repaving to begin on Columbus streets

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Crews from Milestone Contractors will be repairing several city streets throughout the month of August as part of Columbus’s 2023 overlay project.

According to a special use of right of way request from Milestone, which will be considered at Tuesday’s Columbus Board of Works meeting, overlay work is scheduled to occur through Aug. 25.

“Work for the overlay project is a three-step process: patching, milling and paving,” the city’s engineering department said. “There may be times between stages when there will be no work activity on the streets. Please be patient, reduce speeds and use extra caution while in these work zones. Please follow construction signage, obey flag personnel and obey posted ‘no parking’ signs.”

The following streets are included in the project:

  • 13th Street Gladstone Avenue to McClure Road
  • 16th Street Lafayette Avenue to Sycamore Street
  • 7th Street Lafayette Avenue to Werner Avenue
  • California Street 17th Street to Eighth Street
  • Chestnut Street 11th Street to 16th Street
  • McKinley Avenue Gladstone Avenue to Hope Avenue
  • Middle Road Cessna Drive to Arnold Street
  • Fairlawn Drive 29th Street to 31st/Chapel Drive
  • Fairlawn Drive 31st/Chapel Drive to Taylor Road
  • Terrace Lake Road Shields Drive to Goeller Boulevard

The above list does not represent the order in which work will be done, city officials said.
