Great Girls, Wonderful Women: Rumsey to keynote FFY event

Jennifer Rumsey

The leader of a company that was recently ranked as one of the nation’s top five best employers for women will speak at an annual event celebrating women and girls.

Jennifer Rumsey, CEO and chair of Cummins, Inc, will give the keynote address at Foundation For Youth’s 2023 “Great Girls, Wonderful Women” luncheon. The event will be held at FFY’s Hope Avenue location on Sept. 28, with doors and a buffet opening at 11:30 a.m.

Rumsey is the first woman to lead Cummins, which was recently ranked No. 4 on Forbes’ list of America’s Best Employers for Women.

“We are excited to have Jen Rumsey,” said FFY Chief Development Officer Karina Willats. “It’s really cool that we live in this town, and we can have a globally significant corporate leader come to our little event.”

According to organizers, the annual lunch brings together women from the community and girls from FFY programs for inspiration and empowerment.

Skye Nicholson, founder of Souls’ Truth Coaching, and Emily Wart, a junior at Columbus North High School, will once again emcee the event, Willats said.

Tickets are available at bit.ly/GGWW-2023, and proceeds from the event will help fund scholarships at FFY.

Single tickets are $100 each, and a “Captain’s Table” costs $500. Corporate tables are available for a minimum contribution of $1,000, and these sponsors will also have advertising opportunities, said Willats.

“There 30 corporate tables,” she said. “There are 10 other tables in total. And at the moment, eight of those are available as full tables, and two are available as single tickets. But we can change that as we go along, depending on how people sign up and what people are looking for.”

Each table will have six seats for guests and two for girls from FFY. Ticket sales opened Friday afternoon, and 13 out of 40 tables were taken as of Monday morning, Willats said.

As of Monday afternoon, the ticket sales site showed that FFY had raised $15,000, which is 30% of its $50,000 goal.
