Bartholomew County REMC working to restore power in Ogilville area

BARTHOLOMEW COUNTY — A Bartholomew County REMC substation that serves the southwest quadrant of the county (Ogilville area) caught on fire this morning around 9:30 a.m. most likely from lightning, utility officials said.

Crews were able to restore the northern part of the area. However extensive damage from the fire within the substation on the circuit for the 500 customers out in the southern part will remain out while a mobile substation is trucked in from Spencer, and hooked up to restore power. Estimated time of restoration is 10 p.m, utility officials said.
