Billy F. Scott

FREETOWN

Billy F. Scott, age 89, of Freetown, passed away on Saturday, August 26, 2023, at Schneck Medical Center, Seymour, surrounded by his loving family.

Mr. Scott was a lifetime member of Freetown Church of Christ, where he served as Deacon of the church and Sunday school teacher.

Billy was employed as a foreman at Cummins Engine Co. for more than 25 years. After his retirement from Cummins, he worked at Bryant Implement in Seymour for more than 15 years.

Mr. Scott loved his Lord and Savior. He also loved and treasured spending time with his family, loved working on diesel and small engines, and enjoyed hunting and reading.

Born on August 25, 1934, in Freetown, Billy was the son of Sherman and Amy C. Cornett Scott, both of whom preceded him in death. On July 21, 1955, in Freetown, he married Carole D. Baughman, and she survives in Freetown.

Survivors also include three sons: William Dwayne Scott of Brownstown, Kendall R. (Nancy) Scott of Columbus, and Brian T. Scott (Tamala White) of Medora; one brother, Clayton L. “Pug” (Velma) Scott of Freetown; six grandchildren: Kirstie Pumphrey, Brittany (Devin) Kinworthy, Christopher (Bailey) Scott, Lauren Wetterau, Sarah Williams, and Brian Scott; and nine great-grandchildren: Charley Pumphrey, Riley Pumphrey, Briar Pumphrey, Jack Kinworthy, Harper Scott, Keilen Hardy, Kennedy Williams, Mylee Francis, and Zoey Scott.

Mr. Scott was also preceded in death by one son, Douglas A. Scott; and one sister, Bonnie Scott.

Funeral services for Billy F. Scott will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Freetown Church of Christ with Pastor Barry DeWitt officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, September 1, 2023, at Spurgeon Funeral Home, Inc., Brownstown, and from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at Freetown Church of Christ.

Interment will be at Freetown Cemetery.

Memorials may be given to Freetown Church of Christ.
