Crimson Pride open with pair of wins

TERRE HAUTE — IU Columbus made its volleyball debut a winning one Friday with a pair of wins in the Saint Mary-of-the-Woods Tournament.

The Crimson Pride opened with a 25-5, 25-21, 25-15 win against Principia. Cora Baker pounded 12 digs, Addison Lemon recorded 24 assists, Madison Hunter notched 12 digs and Columbus North graduates Grace Barkes and Logan Branstetter had one block and seven aces, respectively, to lead the Crimson Pride.

Also for IUC, Hunter tallied seven kills and six aces, and Barkes added five kills. Alivia Luse contributed three assists and 11 digs.

The Crimson Pride came back with a 25-19, 25-18, 25-9 win against Alice Lloyd. Baker pounded 14 kills, Lemon recorded 40 assists, Mackenzie Broman had three blocks, Alyvia Luce notched 17 digs and Hunter served four aces. Branstetter added eight kills.

IUC will wrap up the tournament with games today against Goshen at 3 p.m. and Boyce at 6 p.m.
