Crimson Pride go 3-1 in season-opening tourney

TERRE HAUTE — IU Columbus took its first loss of the season Saturday afternoon against Goshen, but bounced back with a win against Boyce to finish 3-1 in the season-opening St. Mary-of-the-Woods Tournament.

After going 2-0 on Friday, the Crimson Pride fell to Goshen 25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 25-13. Columbus North graduate Logan Branstetter recorded seven kills, one block and three aces; while Cora Baker had 16 kills and one block and Addison Lemon notched 29 assists and one block. Alyvia Luse tallied 18 digs.

IUC rebounded with a 25-19, 25-23, 22-25, 27-25 win against Boyce. Lemon recorded 31 assists and two aces, Luce had 16 digs and two aces, Baker pounded 17 kills Mackenzie Broman notched six block asssits and Madison Hunter served two aces. North graduate Grace Barkes added six kills and three block assists.

The Crimson Pride are off until returning to Saint Mary-of-the Woods on Sept. 15.
