Evelyn Cecelia Jewell, 93, of Columbus, died at 8:15 a.m. Sunday, September 3, 2023 at Otterbein Franklin SeniorLife Community.
Evelyn was born October 21, 1929, in Taunton, Massachusetts, the daughter of Peter and Helen (Cotter) Hebert.
Evelyn was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church. She received her RN from Massachusetts Memorial Hospital in 1954. She was very proud to have served as a Registered Nurse in the United States Air Force. She later worked for the Columbus Regional Hospital, Koala Addictions Treatment, Indiana Masonic Home of Franklin, and Quinco Behavioral Health Systems. Evelyn loved the Cape Cod area.
Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, September 11, 2023, at St. Bartholomew Catholic Church with Father Clem Davis officiating. Calling hours will be from 1 p.m. – 4 p.m. Sunday, September 10th at Jewell-Rittman Family Funeral Home. Private inurnment will be held at Garland Brook Cemetery with military honors provided by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
Memorials may be made to the Disabled American Veterans Association.
Survivors include her children, Gregory Jewell, Amy Jewell, and Cynthia Jewell; grandchildren, Travis Jewell, Benjamin Matheny, MaryBeth Matheny-Jones, Timothy Martin, and Sylvia Martin.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Helen Hebert; brothers, Bernard Hebert, Robert Hebert, Peter Hebert Jr., Andrew Hebert, Vincent Hebert, Edward Hebert, and Thomas Hebert; sisters, Helen Ames and Marita Duarte.
