Single vehicle crash claims life of Commiskey man in Jennings County

JENNINGS COUNTY — Jennings County Sheriff deputies said a Commiskey man died in a single-vehicle accident near the Crosley Fish and Wildlife entrance on State Road 3 South in Vernon Township.

The accident, on Sept. 2, involved a 1995 Buick Lesabre which was found on its side resting on a tree, deputies said. Witnesses said the individual had been speaking to them, but went unconscious before deputies arrived.

Deputies were able to push the vehicle over to access the driver, Marshall Greathouse, 67, Commiskey. Deputies and medical personnel administered medical aid and Marshall was subsequently transported to a local area hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Preliminary investigation shows Marshall was traveling northbound on State Road 3 approximately one-half mile south of Crosley when he traveled left of center, ultimately leaving the west side of the roadway where his vehicle then stuck a tree before coming to a rest on the passenger side.
