INDOT to begin nightly lane closures on I-65 south of Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ind. — Indiana Department of Transportation contractor Force Construction Company, Inc. is scheduled to conduct nightly lane closures beginning this week along I-65 to complete additional work between the Columbus and Walesboro exits in Bartholomew County.

Beginning on or after Friday, northbound I-65 will be reduced to one lane between the 64 mile marker and the 68 mile marker. The nightly lane closures are scheduled to take place from approximately 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. while work is in progress.

The overnight lane closures are currently scheduled as follows:

  • Friday, Sept. 8 to  Saturday, Sept. 30 (weather permitting): I-65 reduced to one lane for diamond grinding operations (between mile markers 64 and 68).
  • Monday, Oct. 2 to Sunday, Oct. 15 (weather permitting): I-65 reduced to one lane for installation of permanent pavement markings, shoulder corrugations, and raised pavement markers (between mile markers 64 and 68).

INDOT reminds motorists to slow down, use caution and drive distraction-free in and near work zones. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
