Charlestown driver injured in one-vehicle accident in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY — Troopers from the Indiana State Police Versailles Post are investigating a single-vehicle accident in eastern Jackson County on Thursday which sent a Clark County man to an Indianapolis hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The initial investigation by Trooper Korry Clark indicated that shortly after 9 a.m. Thursday, a black 2001 Toyota pickup truck being driven by Logan M. Light, 31, Charlestown, was traveling southbound on U.S. 31 near County Road 50N in Jackson County.  For an unknown reason, Light’s vehicle crossed the northbound lanes of U.S. 31 and left the east side of the roadway, said Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, Indiana State Police spokesman.

Light’s vehicle hit a culvert and rolled multiple times. Light was ejected from the vehicle during the collision, Wheeles said.  He was transported by EMS to Schneck Medical Center in Seymour, before being flown to an Indianapolis area hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.

The investigation is ongoing.  Toxicology results are pending at this time.

Clark was assisted at the scene by other troopers from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post, deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, Vernon Township Fire Department, Jackson County EMS, and Coomer’s Wrecker Service.
