New Albany edges East to open HHC tourney

Columbus East won at No. 2 and No. 3 singles, but New Albany took other three spots for a 3-2 boys tennis decision in the opening round of the Hoosier Hills Conference Tournament.

Brady Redelman beat Caleb Bradshaw 6-1, 6-2 at No. 2 singles, and Tyler Ernst topped Asher Chaudhry 6-2, 6-4 at No. 3 singles for the Olympians (5-10).

East’s Erik Takahashi fell to Sam Seigel 7-6 (6), 6-2 at No. 1 singles. Ethan Bumbalough and Jacob Dettmer lost to Ben Seigel and Blaine Hamilton 6-2, 6-2 at No. 1 doubles, and Owen Kirk and Henry Ulrich fell to Benton Hamilton and Sarosh Chaudhry 6-1, 7-6 (4) at No. 2 doubles.
