COLUMBUS
Karen Sue Chandler, 72, of Columbus, went home to be with the Lord on September 21, 2023 at her home.
Karen was born February 7, 1951, in Columbus, the daughter of Dewey and Christina M. Shepherd Lucas. She married Raymond Edward Chandler in November of 1968. He preceded her in death on May 4, 2020.
Karen was a “jack-of-all-trades”, rarely being unable to fix anything that needed repairing. She enjoyed talking with people, especially on the phone and was often found most mornings visiting with fellow patrons at the local McDonalds. Never willing to turn her back on someone in need, Karen was a very giving and selfless person. She was always thinking of others and was willing to give to anyone who needed it. Karen had many interests and hobbies. She loved horses and enjoyed reading and browsing through thrift stores. Karen was a Christian and loved the Lord. Most of all, Karen loved her family. She made many sacrifices throughout her life for her children so they would never go without something they needed. She was a strong woman who would overcome any hardship that life threw her way. She will be deeply missed.
Karen is survived by her daughter Arlinda J. (Brian Cook) Clair of Jonesville; grandchildren Kristy R. (Levi) Adams, Steven, Pricilla, and Jessica (Phillip Fields) Tanner, and Brazen Clair; great-grandchildren Bladyn and Jaxson Becker, Eli and Logan Adams, Mia Trueblood, Ruthie Tanner, and Phoebe, Sophie, Ann, and Jaylah Fields; as well as a brother Gary Lucas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Raymond; a daughter Sabrina Rae Tanner on November 24, 2021; as well as a brother Randall Lucas.
The funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the Jewell – Rittman Family Funeral Home with Linda White officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until time of the service Saturday.
The family requests that any memorial contributions be made to the donor’s choice of Veteran charities.
