Crump hosts a fundraising concert Saturday

Continued refurbishing of the Crump Theatre in downtown Columbus remains music to the ears of those supporting the ongoing effort.

That includes Columbus native and longtime musician and singer Kevin Silva. He has organized a fundraising Raise the Roof concert at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at the Crump, 425 Third St.

Silva and his band “The Toons” will headline the gathering that also will include Columbus singer/songwriter Dale Sechrest opening with an acoustic set and Ragtop Deluxe will follow.

Organizers are suggesting a $20 donation at the door.

The Toons are: Silva, guitar/keyboards/vocals; Jeff Lewis, guitar/vocals; George Bower, bass/vocals; Greg Bond, drums/vocals, and Silva’s daughter, Kayleigh Dinwiddie, lead vocals/keyboards.

Ragtop Deluxe is Andy Bierlein, lead vocals; Dan Fouts, bass/vocals; Jim Coleman, drums/vocals; and Tony Young, guitar/vocals.

Opening the show will be Dale Sechrest, acoustic guitar/vocals.

Silva has been among those donating his time and talent to some of the refurbishing of the art deco venue. For the past several years, it has undergone a renovation that recently allowed it to reopen to the public after being closed for years.

Silva, who lives in Indianapolis, has returned to Columbus a number of times in recent years to play at arts and other events with Alan Kaye and The Toons.
