Reverend Paul D. Hardin

NASHVILLE

Reverend Paul D. Hardin, 81, of Brown County, passed from this life at 6:03 a.m. Wednesday, September 27, 2023, at St. Francis Hospital in Indianapolis.

Mr. Hardin was born in Monroe County, November 9, 1941, the son of Clarence and Mamie Hamlin Hardin.

He married Betty J. Lucas May 28, 1966. She passed unexpectedly May 25, 2023.

Paul retired from the U.S. Army serving his country from 1967-1991. He was stationed in Germany for 2 years, then later as an Army recruiter in the U.S.

He was later employed at Hi Hill Ready Mix from 1971-1991, Washington Township Trustee from 1990-2010, Brown County Jail Chaplain for 9 1/2 years and served as the pastor of Green Valley Apostolic Pentecostal Church in Nashville from 1991 to the time of his passing.

He enjoyed reading his Bible, daily walks, feeding the deer, driving through Brown County State Park and just being outside.

Surviving to cherish his memory are his grandchildren, Shawn A. Fosnight of Gnaw Bone, Bradley P. (Kaylee) Fosnight of Columbus, Tiffany (Jeff) Roberts of Edinburgh and Khaley Maggard of Edinburgh; great-grandchildren, Emily, Dyani, Robert, Nathan, Mason and Madison; sons-in-law, Shawn D. Fosnight of Gnaw Bone and Billy Maggard of Edinburgh; and sisters, Susie Lucas and Joan (Gary) Jackman both of Nashville.

Mr. Hardin was preceded in death by his parents; wife; daughters, Paula Maggard and Angela Fosnight; brothers, James, Merle “Bunny” and Rev. Dwight Hardin; and his sisters, Alma Hardin and Wilma Hardin Beavers.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Green Valley Apostolic Pentecostal Church, 385 South Green Valley Church Road, Nashville; The Revs. Mark Myers, Rick Rice and Charles Wright will officiate.

Family and friends may gather for visitation from 11 a.m. until service time Saturday at the church.

Mr. Hardin will be laid to rest next to his wife at Crouch Cemetery in Brown County with military honors presented by the Bartholomew County Veterans Honor Guard.
