Buns & Beards Beauty Lounge, 3116 N. National Road, Columbus, is seeking sponsors and donations as it partners with Columbus Regional Health to organize and host the annual Bash to Beat Cancer on Oct. 28 from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m.

The event helps to raise money for out-of-pocket expenses not covered by insurance that some cancer center patients may experience while going through treatment at Columbus Regional Hospital’s Cancer Center. Event organizer and Buns & Beards owner Anna Land said event organizers “are aiming to blow previous years out of the park this year by having a goal of raising $8,000.

“With those additional funds, we hope to reach more families in need than we were able to in years past,” Land said.

The event in prior years has raised cash donations, gas cards and other assistance that has been able to give cancer patients peace of mind during an already tough time.

Event organizers are seeking sponsors and/or donations to help reach the goal to provide assistance to cover needs that that insurance doesn’t meet. All donations benefit the CRH Cancer Center fund held in the Columbus Regional Health Foundation and are tax deductible.

Along with cash, other donations sought include:

  • Compound medications not frequently covered by insurance (such as Mary’s Magic Mouthwash).
  • Gift cards such as for Walgreens, or gas cards.
  • Wigs or soft cotton knit hats.
  • Nutritional supplements.
  • Incontinence supplies.
