Club Olympia competes in Jack Thompson Fall Classic

Despite having several athletes unavailable due to BCSC’s Fall Break, 33 Club Olympia Swimmers spent last weekend in Louisville competing in the Annual Jack Thompson Classic hosted by Kentucky’s Lakeside Swim Team at the historical Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center.

This meet annually attracts the top competitive club teams from Kentucky including Lakeside, Cardinal Aquatics, and Triton Swimming, as well as Ensworth and Excel Aquatics, both top competitive swim teams from Tennessee. Nearly 500 swimmers from nine clubs competed.

In total, Club Olympia swimmers achieved Personal Best Times 84 events and swam to 14 new Age Group State and 122 new Divisional cut times over the weekend.

Top performers for Club Olympia included Aahan Gupta, Myra Jaryal, Camila Mejia Murguia and Shreyan Kulkarni. Gupta, competing in the 9-10 division, finished first in the 100 butterfly, second in the 50 butterfly and 200 freestyle, third in the 50 freestyle and fifth in the 100 freestyle, with three other top-10 finishes. Gupta had personal-best times in four of his eight events.

Jaryal swam in the 8U division, winning the 50 breaststroke and 50 butterfly and placing second in the 50 backstroke and third in the 50 freestyle, with personal-best times in six of seven events.

Mejia Murguia finished third in the 50 butterfly, fourth in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle and claimed four other top-10 finishes with personal-best times in three events.

Kulkarni was able to claim five top-10 finishes and had no finish outside the top 20 in the 11-12 age group claiming personal best times in two events.

Other swimmers competing in the 8U division included Arash Thokade, who took first place in the 25 freestyle, sixth in the 50 butterfly, ninth in the 50 freestyle and 10th in the 50 breaststroke. Neeti Gujarathi was fourth in the 50 breaststroke and 15th in the 50 backstroke. Rayaan Malviya placed ninth in the 50 butterfly, 11th in the 50 backstroke and 13th in the 50 freestyle and 50 breaststroke. Amelia Arul finished 14th in the 25 breaststroke and 16th in the 25 freestyle.

Joining Gupta in the 9-10 division was Vivan Shah, who placed eighth in the 50 freestyle with six additional top-20 finishes. Also competing were Sarthak Deshmukh, Aahan Ingole and Bella Zhang.

Other Club Olympia athletes competing 11-12 included Rebecca Mejia Murguia, whose eight top-20 finishes included a seventh in the 50 breaststroke and 11th in the 100 butterfly. Kay Payne took eighth in the 100 butterfly. Xavier Zhang was ninth in the 100 butterfly and in the top 20 in all eight of his events. Arjun Agarkar finished 10th in the 50 freestyle and grabbed five top-20 finishes. Lexi Miller placed top 20 in six events on the weekend, including a 10th in the 500 Free. Aashka Shah grabbed top 20 finishes in four of her eight events. Lily Pendleton and Adir Joshi combined for three top-20 finishes. Also competing were Daxton Wolf, Natasha Julla, Shourya Malviya, Vibha Nagiligari, Ricky Singh and Chris Suo, several of whom were competing in the 11-12 division for the first time.

Josh Pendleton competed in the 13-14 age group on a partial schedule for the weekend and placed 10th in the 200 freestyle, 12th in the 100 butterfly, 13th in the 1,000 freestyle and 14th in the 200 backstroke.

The senior group for Club Olympia was led by Cavan Stilson, who swam 2,000 yards of competition over the three days and took 15th in the 200 backstroke and 18th in the 50 freestyle. Todd Hundley completed a similar number of yards across 11 events, with a top finish of 11th in the 200 backstroke. Judah Nickoll, competing in the same 11 events, was 19th in the 200 backstroke. Also competing in the senior group were Ethan Hall, Saya Hauser and Jasper Nickoll.

Club Olympia will be competing again at the end of October in a meet hosted by Flashes Aquatics.
