Letter: Tom Dell has earned votes as a proven leader, servant

From: Mark A. Pillar

Columbus

Fellow citizens, to those of you who know me, this may seem a confusing stance. Nationally, I’m basically a conservative Republican. Locally, it’s a completely different story. I vote for the most qualified. I vote for the candidate I believe will make the best decisions for the City of Columbus and the people of Columbus.

Tom Dell and I have known, worked with and supported each other for over 25 years. I know him to be a man of integrity, honesty and action. He is a fair and deliberate man who will gather as much data as possible before making a decision.

Tom is a proven leader. For more than three years he has worked diligently on the Columbus City Council and is the liaison to four other committees. He also serves on four other boards around the community. He’s in some meeting making Columbus better nearly every night. Ask his wife, Kathy. She’ll vouch for that statement.

In Columbus we are blessed to have citizens from both parties who are qualified and willing to go through the rigors of running for office. As is always the case, some are better qualified than others. Tom Dell has served well and is willing to continue to serve. The last point I want to make is that Tom Dell is not a politician. Tom Dell is a public servant. We’re lucky to have him in Columbus.

Please take the time to vote in this election. It’s one of the rights I served 37 years, retiring as a U.S. Air Force major general, to protect. Join me and vote for Tom Dell for Columbus City Council At-Large.
