NORTH VERNON — Jennings County jumped out to a 33-0 lead early in the second quarter Friday and cruised from there to a 46-21 win against Edgewood in an opening-round sectional battle.
The Panthers (5-5) led 46-7 at halftime, triggering a running clock for the final two quarters.
Brandon Braun carried 22 times for 287 yards and six touchdowns and caught two passes for six yards to lead Jennings offensively. Nathan Harrison completed 3 of 4 passes for 14 yards, and Sam Burkman carried five times for 37 yards and a score.
Lane Kirchner had two interceptions, and Austin Byford added one interception to lead the defense.
The Panthers advance to play at Greenwood in next week’s sectional semifinals.
