Art exhibition set at Republic building

Los Angeles-based artist and educator Heather Scott Peterson will present her gallery exhibition titled “Controlled Substances” on Thursday from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. in the auditorium at the Republic Building, 333 Second St., in Columbus. The event will begin with a talk, followed by the reception. The exhibition will run until Dec. 1.

Peterson’s sculptures explore the consequences of human culture on the planet and represent organic and inorganic transformation.

Peterson is a Professor of Interior Architecture at Woodbury University in Los Angeles, and has taught fine art, design and architecture at several institutions in the United States. Her work includes painting, sculpture, architecture, furniture, ceramics, textiles, photography, and culinary arts. She received a bachelor of fine arts degree in painting from the Rhode Island School of Design and a Master’s degree in Architecture from the Southern California Institute of Architecture. She was awarded the MacDowell Fellowship in 2014 and is a member of the viewing program at The Drawing Center in New York.
