IU Columbus to present Business Outlook Panel

The Division of Business at Indiana University Columbus will host its annual Business Outlook Panel Nov. 15 at The Commons, 300 Washington St., in partnership with the Columbus Area Chamber of Commerce, the IU Kelley School of Business, and the Indiana Business Research Center. Check-in begins at 11:30 a.m.

The cost to attend is $40 for individuals, and organizations can sponsor a table for $500, which includes premium reserved seating for eight. All proceeds help to fund scholarships for IU Columbus business students. The event includes lunch and a distinguished speaker panel presenting the 2024 forecast and what it means for interest rates, inflation, jobs, unemployment, GDP, and community members.

The Business Outlook Panel will be moderated by Kevin Jones, Ed.D., associate professor of management at IU Columbus.

Panelists include:

  • U.S. and International forecast: R. Andrew Butters, Ph.D., Associate Professor in the Business Economics & Public Policy department at the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University
  • Financial Markets forecast: Kristoph Kleiner, Ph.D., Associate Professor of Finance and the Daniel C. Smith Fellow at the Kelley School of Business, as well as a visiting scholar with the FDIC and IRS
  • State of Indiana forecast: Phil Powell, Ph.D., Academic Director of the Indiana Business Research Center and the Daniel C. Smith Faculty Fellow at the Indiana University Kelley School of Business
  • Local outlook: Steve Mohler, DBA, Associate Professor of Management at IU Columbus

The IU Kelley School of Business has presented these forecasts since 1972, based on research from its Indiana Business Research Center. It will present 11 Futurecast 2024 economic outlook panels across the state, including the 2024 Business Outlook Panel in Columbus.
