HOPE
Larry L. Thayer, 83, of Hope, passed away on Sunday, October 22, 2023 at his home.
Born on September 18, 1940 in Hope, Larry was the son of William and Ruby Burns Thayer. He married Patricia A. Lemons on January 5, 1963.
Larry served in the United States Army from 1958 to 1961 as a tank operator and was a member of the Hope Masonic Lodge 150. He went on to work at Cummins for 37 years as a Field Service Engineer before retiring in 1995. Larry was also a lifelong Farmer and dedicated Hauser Jet fan.
Larry’s number one passion in life was spending time with his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
Larry is survived by his wife, of Hope; children, Shawn (Lisa) Thayer, Leah (Griff) Roth, and Tabetha (Jimmy) Tedder, all of Hope; grandchildren, Blake (Hannah) Roth, Baili (Korey) Finke, Ryan (Morgan) Thayer, Rachel (Justin) Connors, Reid (Emily) Thayer, Rory (Quin) Thayer, Emily Tedder, Elizabeth Tedder, and Sarah Tedder; great-grandchildren, Josie Roth, Lex and Lenni Finke, McKenna, Harper, and Hudson Connors, Collins and Sutton Thayer, Evie Thayer, and Kaysen Thayer; and nephew, Greg (Amy) Thayer.
Larry was also excited for the arrival of another two great grandchildren, expected to be born in late October and January.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Bill Thayer; and nephew, Doug Thayer.
Following Larry’s wishes, cremation is planned. A private inurnment will take place at Hawcreek Cemetery.
