A man who walked away from a work crew at the Edinburgh Correctional Facility has been taken into custody in Indianapolis.
Marion F. Jaynes, 55, who is serving a 20-year sentence for burglary, walked away from a work crew at the Edinburgh Correctional Facility on Monday. The facility is a minimum security facility located on the grounds of Camp Atterbury with work crews that work in multiple areas, according to an Indiana Department of Correction news release.
Jaynes had last been seen just before 11 a.m. Monday driving a 2006 blue Dodge Dakota near Harding and Lambert streets on the south side of Indianapolis. He was located at a home on the west side of Indianapolis later that afternoon, and was taken into custody by the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department shortly before 3:30 p.m. Monday, officials said.
Jaynes has a lengthy criminal history, with convictions going as far back as 1991. Among the charges are multiple counts of resisting law enforcement and burglary, according to online records from the IDOC.
The IDOC was assisted by the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office, Morgan County Sheriff’s Office, Franklin Police, Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department, Mooresville Police Department and Indiana State Police, the news release says.
Some area schools including Franklin Community Schools were placed on lockdown for part of the search out of an abundance of caution.
The Johnson County Prosecutor’s Office will decide on any additional charges, officials said.
