COLUMBUS
James Donald England, Sr. 84 of Columbus, Indiana passed away October 27, 2023 at Johnson Memorial Hospital in Franklin, Indiana. He was born September 9, 1939 in Metcalfe County, Kentucky. He was the son of William R. “Bill” and Elmar (Wilson) England.
He is survived by his daughter, Cindy England Carlton of Chicago, Illinois, son, James D. (Debbie) England, Jr. of Cumming, Georgia, grandchildren, Erika (Jason) McElrea, Lindsey England, and Megan England, bonus daughter, Moneeka McPherson, bonus grandchildren, Hezekiah Moore and Kyleigh Mann, brother, Paul H. (Peggy) England of Crothersville, Indiana, and sisters, Pricie McGaha of Edinburgh, Indiana and Linda (Vernon) Luttrell of Campbellsville, Kentucky.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and sisters, Dorothy England and Janet England.
James attended Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church and Trinity Baptist Church in Columbus. He was a life time member of Moose Lodge #398 in Columbus.
He retired from United Life Insurance Company after many years of service where he worked as a sales manager.
James loved his children and grandchildren,enjoyed playing on basketball and softball teams, and was an IU Basketball fan.
A funeral service will be conducted by Reverend Guy Hardin at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, October 31, 2023 at Edinburgh Separate Baptist Church. Calling will be from 4:00 until 8:00 PM on Monday, October 30 at the church and from 10:00 AM until time of service on Tuesday. Burial will be at Old Union Cemetery in Edinburgh.
