COLUMBUS, INDIANA
Daniel L. Baldwin, 89, a resident of Columbus, Indiana, passed from this life at 4 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the home of his daughter in Hope, Indiana.
Dan was born in Bartholomew County, July 2, 1934, one of thirteen children of the late Richard Leslie and Ada Lavine Taylor Baldwin.
Early in life, Dan was employed at Cosco, Inc. He then began a long career as a self-employed plumbing contractor and had been a subcontractor for the former Indiana Gas Company.
Dan was a life member of the Columbus Elks Club and a member of Columbus Moose Lodge No. 398 since 1974. He also enjoyed membership at the American Legion Post 24.
Dan is survived by his children, Janet Sue (Allen) Kelley of Hope, Phyllis Ann Baldwin of North Vernon and Danny Lee Baldwin of Seymour; sisters, Rachel (Delmar) Moore of Jacksonville, Texas and Betty Jean Dickinson of Franklin; brothers, Mark (Susan) Baldwin of Columbus and Sam (Janet) Baldwin of Bradenton, Florida; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Ada Baldwin; a son, Timothy Baldwin; sisters, Kathryn Davis and Lois Bilby; and his brothers, Omer, Robert, Paul, Ray, John and James Baldwin.
The funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, November 7, 2023, at Barkes, Weaver &Glick Funeral Home on Washington Street with Pastor Tony Garris officiating.
Family and friends may gather for visitation from 12:30 p.m. until service time Tuesday at the funeral home.
Dan will be laid to rest in the Garland Brook Mausoleum. Memorial contributions may be made in memory of Dan to the donor’s charity of choice.
