SHELBYVILLE — The Columbus East boys swimmers opened their season with a 128-43 win at Shelbyville on Thursday, while the Olympian girls, who were competing for the third time this season, rolled to a 105-57 victory.
The East boys won all 12 events. Cavan Stilson won the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 54.88 seconds) and 100 freestyle (49.78), Judah Nickoll took the 50 freestyle (22.87) and 100 backstroke (57.55) and Misha Machavariani captured the 100 butterfly (53.62) and 100 breaststroke (1:04.48) to lead the Olympians.
Other individual winners for the boys were Todd Hundley in the 200 IM (2:09.92), Gavin Day in the diving competition (243.45) and Jesse Isaacs in the 500 freestyle (6:18.64). East also swept the 200 medley (1:40.97), 200 freestyle (1:40.38) and 400 freestyle (3:29.34) relays.
Connelly Furnish won the 200 IM (2:19.41) and 500 freestyle (5:23.91), and Gabbie Meier took the diving (201.20) and 100 breaststroke (1:19.30) to lead the Olympian girls. Abby Proffitt captured the 100 backstroke (1:12.59), and East swept the 200 medley (2:07.62), 200 freestyle (1:56.99) and 400 freestyle (4:10.07) relays.
