Connor Ramey // Edinburgh junior basketball player

Ramey led the Lancers with 31 points in Saturday’s 56-51 win at Waldron. He also led Edinburgh with 16 points in Friday’s 48-39 win against Oldenburg Academy.

His performance last week: “I’ve had to step up a lot more this season, so I felt more comfortable with the ball in my hands.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I watch a lot of film.”

Favorite drink: “Dr. Pepper”

Favorite food: “Steak”

Favorite class: “Algebra”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana University”

Favorite athlete: “(NBA player) Kyrie Irving”

Role model: “My dad (Donny Ramey). He always just pushes me the hardest in everything I do.”

Best advice: “No matter what, just always keep trying and don’t let mistakes ruin your momentum.”

Athletics goal: “I’m really trying to reach 1,000 points by the end of my senior year.”

If you could travel anywhere: “I really want to go to Alaska. I like the cooler weather and the snow.”

Lexie Austin // Brown County senior basketball player

Lexie Austin

Austin led the Eagles with 19 points in Saturday’s 67-47 win at South Putnam. She also led Brown County with 19 points in a 76-51 win against Mitchell.

Her performance last week: “I’m just glad that we were able to win two big games as a team, and I was able to perform well.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “I always study film and make sure I know (the opponents’) skill sets before I go into a game.”

Favorite drink: “White chocolate mocha from Starbucks”

Favorite food: “Fettucine Alfredo”

Favorite class: “My Biomedical science class”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana University women’s basketball”

Favorite athlete: “(UConn basketball player) Paige Bueckers”

Role model: “My coach (Kamady Lewis)”

Best advice: “Never get down on myself, and just keep going and never lose confidence or be discouraged.’’

Athletics goal: “To possibly play basketball at the next level.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Greece, because of the water and the architecture there.”
