Three Louisville suspects arrested on I-65 after fentanyl was located during traffic stop in Jackson County

JACKSON COUNTY — Indiana State Police arrested three men from Louisville, Kentucky after a large amount of suspected fentanyl was located during a traffic stop on I-65 in Jackson County.

The stop occurred at 3 p.m. Tuesday when Trooper Randel Miller stopped a Chevrolet passenger car on I-65 northbound near the 48 mile marker, just south of Seymour, said Sgt. Stephen Wheeles, Indiana State Police spokesman.

During the traffic stop, Miller determined that the three adult male occupants of the vehicle may be in possession of illegal drugs, Wheeles said.  A back seat passenger, Alonzo Dixon, 28, Louisville, Kentucky, fled from Miller across all lanes of I-65.  Deputy Max Marcoux, Jennings County Sheriff’s Office, along with an off duty Clark County deputy were able to catch up to Dixon and place him into custody.

During a search of the vehicle, officers located a bag suspected of containing nearly 200 pills believed to contain fentanyl, Wheeles said.  The driver of the vehicle, Landon Pearl, 18, Louisville, Kentucky was found to have additional pills containing a controlled substance on his person.  A third occupant, Devon Peach, 30, Louisville, Kentucky was wanted on a parole warrant out of Kentucky.

All three men were arrested and transported to the Jackson County Jail on preliminary felony charges of dealing a narcotic drug and possession of over 28 grams of a narcotic drug.  Dixon was additionally arrested on a charge of resisting law enforcement.  Peach faced an additional felony charge of neglect of a dependent due to an 8-month-old juvenile being in the vehicle.  Peach was also being held on his warrant out of Kentucky.

Child Protective Services responded to the scene to take the small child into their custody.

All three men will soon have an initial appearance in the Jackson County Circuit Court.

Miller was assisted by additional troopers from the Indiana State Police-Versailles Post, the Seymour Police Department, the Jennings County Sheriff’s Office, the Clark County Sheriff’s Office, and a Federal Wildlife Officer.
