Indiana State Police release photo of person of interest in officer-involved shooting in Indy

INDIANAPOLIS Indiana State Police detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the officer-involved shooting last night at 30th Street and Beeler Avenue in Indianapolis. There are currently two suspects still at large, the person who complied with the trooper and was taken into custody was released, he is not currently facing criminal charges related to this incident.

A person in the posted photo is wanted for questioning in connection to this incident, it is believed he is the driver of the vehicle that fled.

Investigators are still reviewing video evidence including the body worn camera and dash camera of the trooper who was involved. Detectives are hopeful the video, along with other investigative means, will identify the suspects who fled. The stolen vehicle was recovered and crime scene investigators are working to examine that vehicle today. It was determined the 2021 Kia was stolen in Camby (Indiana) earlier in the evening on December 12.

The trooper who discharged his firearm is two-year ISP veteran Trooper Damon Munn. Munn has been placed on administrative leave as standard protocol with officer involved shootings.

According to state police, a trooper saw a vehicle that matched the description of a stolen vehicle at 9:12 p.m. in Indianapolis.  He pulled in behind the vehicle, a records check of the license plate confirmed the 2021 Kia was reported stolen. The trooper followed the vehicle to the intersection of 30th Street and Beeler where he turned on his emergency lights and initiated a traffic stop. The vehicle turned north on Beeler and pulled over to the right side of the roadway. The vehicle was occupied by three people. While the trooper was speaking with the occupants one person complied and was taken into custody, one person fled on foot and the third person fled in the vehicle. During the encounter the trooper discharged his firearm, however at this time it is not believed anyone was struck by gunfire or injured.
