While most people are spending time with family and friends during the holidays, there is plenty of local basketball action going on between Christmas and New Year’s.

The Hauser girls and boys and the Columbus North girls and boys basketball teams will be playing in tournaments Dec. 27 and Dec. 28. Columbus East won’t be playing in any tournaments over the break, but still will have regular games to play.

Hauser’s girls will play in a tournament for the first time since the 2019-20 season when they host an eight-team tournament. The Jets will face off with Greenwood Christian Academy in the opening round at 9 a.m. Dec. 27. Hauser will take on the winner or loser of the Eminence vs. Seeger matchup in the semifinal or consolation round, respectively. South Decatur will take on Triton Central, and Providence will square off with Lawrenceburg in the other half of the draw. The placement round games will begin at noon Dec. 28.

Like the Hauser girls team, the Bull Dog girls will be playing in their first tournament since the 2019-20 season when they play in the Scottsburg Tournament. North will take on Eastern (Pekin) in the opening round at 4:15 p.m. Dec. 27. The Bull Dogs will take on the winner or loser of the Franklin Central vs. Charlestown matchup in the semifinal or consolation round. Batesville will face Scottsburg, and Borden will take on Kokomo in the other half of the draw. The placement round games will begin at 2:30 p.m. Dec. 28.

The Olympian girls team will have two games coming up this week until taking a two-week hiatus from competition. They will host North Decatur on Tuesday and host Greensburg on Thursday. Both games will be a 6 p.m. JV tipoff, with the varsity to follow at around 7:30 p.m.

The Hauser boys team will play in the Edinburgh Tournament. The Jets will play Borden in the opening round at noon on Dec. 27. Hauser will take on the winner or loser of the 10 a.m. matchup between South Decatur vs. Austin in the semifinal or consolation round. Edinburgh will take on Victory College Prep at 2 p.m. Dec. 27, while Jac-Cen-Del takes on Union County at 4 p.m. Dec. 27 in the other half of the draw. The placement round games will begin at 2 p.m. Dec. 28.

The North boys team will not be in the Noblesville Tournament as in years past, but will play in the Batesville Tournament on Dec. 28. The one-day tourney will have them taking on the hosts at 10 a.m., with Roncalli taking on Pendleton Heights at noon in the other matchup. The third place game is at 4 p.m., with the first-place game at 6 p.m.

The East boys team will play two games in the next couple weeks. The Olympians will travel to face Greensburg on Tuesday and travel to Mount Vernon on Dec. 29. Both games will be a 6 p.m. JV tipoff, with the varsity to follow at around 7:30 p.m.
