Suspect arrested on multiple charges after kicking and spitting at CPD officers

COLUMBUS, Ind. — A local man was arrested on multiple charges after he reportedly kicked and spit at CPD officers during a disturbance early Monday morning.

At approximately 3:15 a.m., CPD officers responded to a residence in the 3700 block of
Candlelight Drive in regards to a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived at the home, they spoke with Roberto Flores, 24, of Columbus who appeared to be intoxicated, said Lt. Matt Harris, Columbus Police Department spokesman. Flores later became aggressive towards the officers who attempted to restrain him. During the struggle, Flores kicked and spit on the officers, Harris said.

Flores was placed under arrest and transported to the Columbus Regional Hospital for treatment of injuries he sustained prior to law enforcement arriving at his home. While at the hospital, Flores threatened, spit on, and kicked the hospital medical and law enforcement staff, Harris said. Flores was discharged from the hospital a short time later and was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where he was remanded with a 48 hour hold on the following preliminary charges:
–Battery on a Public Safety Official (2 counts)
–Battery by Bodily Waste (3 counts)
–Battery
–Intimidation
–Resisting Law Enforcement
–Disorderly Conduct
