Olympians sweep Stars

BEDFORD — Columbus East swept a dual meet Thursday at Bedford North Lawrence, winning the boys contest 108-75 and the girls meet 115-64.

Connelly Furnish led the Olympian girls with wins in the 200-yard individual medley (2 minutes, 22.80 seconds) and 100 breaststroke (1:17.49). Cassidy Furnish took the 200 freestyle (2:17.79), Gabbie Meier captured the diving competition (224.30), Kira VanValkenburg won the 100 freestyle (1:03.89), Abby Proffitt took the 500 freestyle (5:52.73) and East swept the 200 medley (2:08.27), 200 freestyle (1:52.59) and 400 freestyle (4:06.24) relays.

The boys were led by wins from Misha Machavariani in the 200 IM (2:06.35) and 100 butterfly (55.44) and Cavan Stilson in the 50 freestyle (22.96) and 100 freestyle (51.79). Judah Nickoll took the 200 freestyle (1:52.07), Gavin Day captured the diving (254.50), Keaton Stephenson won the 500 freestyle (5:22.80), Jesse Isaacs took the 100 breaststroke (1:13.26) and the Olympians captured the 200 medley (2:08.27) and 400 freestyle (3:33.35) relays.
