Marjorie Louise Glick Foster Schmeckebier, 93, passed away on January 8, 2024. Marjorie was a teacher at heart and taught in Bartholomew County schools for 37 years at the junior high and high school levels in English and Social Studies. She received her B.A. from Asbury College and M.A. from Indiana University and was active in the National Council on Social Studies. Marjorie loved to be with people. She was active in several organizations, including Petersville United Methodist Church, Delta Kappa Gamma Professional Society for Women Educators, Joseph Hart Chapter of the National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, Barth. Co. Historical Society, Barth. Co. Genealogical Society, Barth. Co. Retired Teachers Association and the Red Hat Society. In retirement, she volunteered at Columbus Regional Health.
Marjorie is survived by her husband, Jack Schmeckebier; children, Harold, Mark, and Anita Foster; nine grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Leslie and Glenna Glick, and her first husband, Robert Foster.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, January 13, 2024. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. – 7 p.m. on Friday, January 12, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday, all at Jewell-Rittman Funeral Home.
Memorial gifts may be made through the funeral home to Petersville United Methodist Church or Just Friends Adult Day Services.
