Nominations open for Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is accepting applications and nominations for the 2024 Governor’s Awards for Environmental Excellence.

This is the 31st year for the awards, which celebrate innovative projects and measurable environmental benefits.

IDEM and Gov. Eric J. Holcomb’s office will present seven awards in the following categories: Energy Efficiency/Renewable Resources, Environmental Education/Outreach, Five-Year Continuous Improvement, Greening the Government, Land Use/Conservation, Pollution Prevention, and Recycling/Reuse.

Citizens, government agencies, businesses, organizations, and educational institutions may submit nominations on behalf of others, and self-nominations are encouraged. To be eligible, projects must have occurred in Indiana in 2022 or 2023.

The deadline for nominations is March 1, with awards presented in September. Nominations are reviewed by a panel of conservation, environmental, and academic professionals. Awards are based on project innovation, measurable results, and transferability.
