INDIANAPOLIS — Kroger will support several Martin Luther King Day of Service food drives around its Central Division area Monday.

Kroger stores in Fishers will collect customer donations to restock pantries in Hamilton County. “Last year’s inaugural

M.L.K. Day Community Food Drive demonstrated how our community can come together to support one another in a time of need,” said Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness.

“We saw residents of all ages, backgrounds, and faiths come out to donate food and volunteer their time to help to collect and organize donations. I look forward to seeing our residents rally together once again to support this important cause.”

Volunteers from Stone Belt, an organization that provides resources for individuals with disabilities, will gather donations at every Kroger store in Bloomington to address food needs at Community Kitchen of Monroe County. Stone Belt volunteers will also collect food for Bartholomew County’s Love Chapel. After the 2023 drive, Penni Sims, communications manager at Stone Belt, said, “Thanks to Kroger for helping to ake the food drive not only successful but taking such good care of our clients!

In all three cities, the drives will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. during the Monday holiday.

The Day of Service also inspired Kroger and Pacers Sports and Entertainment to join for a diaper drive during the past week. Friday, Kroger added a donation of $1,000 to customer donations of diapers and wipes gathered this week at 35 central Indiana Kroger stores. The combined contributions will be presented to families served by the Indiana Diaper Bank.

These activities are an extension of Kroger’s framework for Action: Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. In 2021, Kroger established a new Racial Equity Fund with the vision to create more equitable communities through innovative solutions. Since its launch, the company has donated more than $5 million nationally to further advance racial equity in

America.
