With the girls sectional 2 1/2 weeks away and the boys sectional two weeks after that, the Columbus North and Jennings County swimmers are still in the midst of heavy training.

Tuesday night, the Bull Frog boys and girls and the Panther girls wrapped up their regular seasons with a dual meet at North. The Jennings boys have the Hoosier Hills Conference meet on Jan. 27.

North celebrated its senior night on Tuesday with wins in the boys (135-37) and the girls (136-46) meets.

“They got a nice little end-of-the season win there,” North coach Mike Cunningham said. “That was good for them and kind of a good way to go into sectional. They have some good training coming up the next couple weeks. We’re ready for the big time now.”

The Bull Frog boys were led by wins from Diego Cotero Tapia in the 200-yard freestyle (1 minute, 52.71 seconds) and 100 butterfly (54.39) and Jude Abdallah in the 200 individual medley (2:11.53) and 100 freestyle (50.67). Other winners for North were David Zhang in the 50 freestyle (24.73), Dagan Kleffman in the diving competition (163.95), Aarush Mahato in the 100 backstroke (1:02.66) and Brock Smith in the 100 breaststroke (1:11.55). The Bull Frogs swept the 200 medley (1:57.44), 200 freestyle (1:44.98) and 400 freestyle (3:48.99) relays.

The Panthers got a win from Charlie Witt in the 500 freestyle (5:32.62).

Ainsley Sherlock won the 200 IM (2:24.14) and 100 breaststroke (1:12.18), and Brooklyn Pendleton took the 50 freestyle (27.03) and 100 freestyle (1:01.04) to lead the North girls. Ella Gray Partin captured the diving (2:33.15), Mridula Muthakumaran won the 100 freestyle (1:04.88) and the Bull Frogs swept the 200 medley (2:04.43), 200 freestyle (1:48.79) and 400 freestyle (4:05.55) relays.

Jennings’ Avery Witt won the 200 freestyle (2:05.58) and 100 backstroke (1:05.10). Tatum Brown took the 500 freestyle (5:48.47).

“We looked kind of tired,” Jennings coach Morgan Webster said. “We had some great swims, but overall, this is kind of the time of the season when you’re muscles start to get tired, and that’s kind of right where we want to be going into our championship season. But it was a fun meet.”
