Ocasio named East boys XC coach

Gabe Ocasio

Gabe Ocasio, a veteran in the Columbus running community, has been named boys cross-country coach at Columbus East.

Ocasio was a two-time All-State runner at Columbus North, helping the Bull Dogs to state championships in 2009 and 2010. He went on to run at three in-state colleges and was an NAIA Indoor track All-American at Marian, where earned a degree in health and physical education.

Ocasio was coach of the Pathfinders Cross Country and Track and field in 2018, an assistant cross-country coach at North from 2019-21 and has been the cross-country coach at Parkside Elementary the past two years. A USATF Certified Coach, he replaces Ryan Burke, who had coached the Olympian boys the past 12 years.

Ocasio works as a therapy specialist at Henry Chiropractic Center.
