Funding was restored to relocate the Newbern bridge to the People Trail south of Eastbrook Plaza in Columbus. A state grant to move the bridge was pulled 14 months earlier, but the state Department of Transportation decided to reinstate the $584,000 needed for the relocation and refurbishment.
1999
Hauser Junior-Senior High School students and staff excitedly moved into a new multipurpose room, three classrooms, locker rooms and remodeled office. The $1.4 million project was delayed due to weather, but finally completed and opened for use.
1974
Columbus North and Columbus East High School basketball teams had fans on the edge of their seats until the game was finally decided in favor of the Bull Dogs, 45-43. North boasted a 12-1 season record and possession of the traveling “Hardwood Havoc” trophy.
