Rep. Erin Houchin files for reelection

Rep. Erin Houchin, R-Ind., has filed to run for reelection, seeking a second term representing a district that spans much of south central and southeastern Indiana.

Houchin, who lives in Salem, filed paperwork to be on the Republican primary ballot for Indiana’s 9th Congressional District on Tuesday, according to the Indiana Election Division.

Houchin is currently running unopposed in the primary, according to the recent information available from the Indiana Election Division.

Timothy “Tim” Peck of New Washington has filed to run for the Democratic nomination for the congressional seat.

The district covers portions of southern Bartholomew County, Brown, Jackson, Jennings, Decatur, Monroe, Lawrence, as well as much of the southeastern portion of the state, including Cincinnati’s Indiana suburbs.

Houchin was elected to the House in 2022 and previously was an Indiana state senator for several years.

Candidate filing continues until Feb. 9, according to the Indiana Election Division.
