Judah Nickoll // Columbus East senior swimmer

Nickoll set a school record in winning the 200-yard freestyle, won the 100 backstroke and swam on the winning 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay teams to lead the Olympians to the Hoosier Hills Conferene title.

His performance last week: “I felt great about it. I feel I’m where I need to be. Everything is falling into place, and I’m happy with where I’m at right now.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Probably about a week before the meet, I start to really prioritize sleep more, prioritize hydration more and really just start to get more rest and get more focused.”

Favorite drink: “Orange Mango Body Armor”

Favorite food: “Mac and cheese”

Favorite class: “I really like AP Calculus”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana University basketball”

Favorite athlete: “Michael Phelps”

Role model: “My dad (John Nickoll)”

Best advice: “I think you need to look at things in more of a long distance0type of lens and understand that some things are delayed for delayed gratification.”

Athletics goal: “To beat the 100 backstroke (school) record.”

If you could travel anywhere: “Probably Switzerland, because I really want to hike through the Mont Blanc trail.”

Kaylie Harmon

Harmon led the Bull Dogs with 23 points in Thursday’s 66-40 loss to Roncalli. A night earlier, she scored 22 points to lead North to a 57-49 win at Rushville.

Her performance last week: “I feel like I’ve kind of been playing my role and doing what’s best for our team to win.”

Do you do anything special to prepare? “Me and my dad spend a lot of time outside of our regular practices, and do lots of outside practicing.”

Favorite drink: “Sprite”

Favorite food: “Mac and cheese”

Favorite class: “My math class”

Favorite sports team: “Indiana University women’s basketball”

Favorite athlete: “(IU player) Sydney Parrish”

Role model: “My parents (Mike and Kelly Harmon)”

Best advice: “Just be myself, and be true to yourself.’’

Athletics goal: “I would love to play college basketball somewhere as high as I could.”

If you could travel anywhere: “We already went to Hawaii, but I’d probably go back to Hawaii. We had a fun time.”
