As the regular girls high school basketball season is reaching an end, the Jennings County Panthers have had quite a few highlights this year.

One of the bigger highlights came on Jan. 12, when Juliann Woodard, who is ranked as one of the best high school girls basketball players in the nation, became the school’s all-time leading scorer in a game against Greenwood.

“Since I was a little girl I dreamed of breaking and setting records, and to actually do it feels so surreal,” the record-breaking senior said. “Records are made to be broken, so I hope someone can experience this same feeling of breaking it one day.”

The Panthers, ranked No. 6 in the state in Class 4A, concluded the game with a victory. The final score was 65-11. The ladies were 22-3 going into Friday’s Floyd Central Sectional semifinals.

Woodard is committed to Michigan State University this fall.
